Thanks for asking - Sewer Hookups
Mashpee home owners have reached out with questions about hooking up to the sewer lines. Home owners have asked about the cost and available funding. I have reached out to town and county officials and have searched news sources to find out as much as possible. Based on what I’ve learned, here is where we are so far. Costs to hookup are variable depending on many factors, including but not limited to, the distance of the home from the street as well as landscaping and structures in the path of the hookup. No and low-interest loans are available to qualifying home owners and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts offers a state income tax credit to qualifying home owners.
Thanks for asking - The Housing Crisis
Mashpee’s housing crisis is real. In this first “Thanks for asking” post I respond to a question about housing submitted by a Mashpee resident. I attempt to unpack the housing crisis and discuss the complexity of finding solutions. As I learn more, I will continue to post.
What’s all the red seaweed?
If we don’t make a change…. As Dasy, an invasive seaweed found on Mashpee beaches continues to grow, it will crowd out other native seaweed that are integral to the ecosystems of the bays. The proliferation and decay of Dasy will increase CO2 and further deplete Oxygen, which fish and other organisms need to survive. This process is cyclical, resulting in further declining water quality.
Why I’m running for re-election
We need to work together to make decisions and act based on science and research. We must communicate openly, collaborate, and problem solve to address the issues that confront us as a community.
